Candid Wedding Photography & Videography at The Lakeview in Hamilton.
Authentic & Candid Wedding Photography and Videography
From the moment they first saw each other walking down the aisle, the way Tammy & Paul looked at each other said more than any pose could. Their wedding brought together Canadian and Asian families, two sets of traditions, and a room full of people who were genuinely happy to be there. As their Lakeview by Carmen's wedding photographer and videographer, our job at Moonlight Photography was simple: stay out of the way and record the day as it really happened.
Wedding Photography Session on the Beach
Even with an indoor ceremony, we could not skip the beach. Just before sunset, we walked Tammy and Paul down to the shore for a short golden hour session. The light turned low over the lake, and the two of them forgot about us for a while. We gave a few simple prompts, then let them walk, talk, danse and hold each other. These images are some of the most romantic of the whole day, and the video clips from this session became a key scene of their wedding film.
About The Lakeview by Carmen's
The Lakeview is part of Carmen's Group, a Hamilton hospitality company that has been running event venues since 1978. The venue sits inside Confederation Park, right on the shore of Lake Ontario. It is close to downtown Hamilton and under an hour from Toronto, which makes it easy for guests coming from across the region.
A Reception Room That Looks Out on the Lake
The ballroom is on the second floor. It has vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams, hardwood floors and large windows facing the water. French doors open onto a private balcony, and on a clear day you can see the Toronto skyline across the lake.
For us, this room is a real advantage. Daylight comes in from the lake side, so speeches, toasts and dinner moments look soft and natural. We rarely had to rely on heavy flash, which helps us stay quiet and unnoticed.
Beach Ceremony or Indoor Ceremony
The Lakeview gives couples a choice. You can hold your ceremony on the beach, a short walk from the main building, or inside the ballroom with the lake behind you. Tammy and Paul chose the indoor ceremony. It kept things comfortable for older family members and let everyone stay in one space from the vows to the first dance. Before dinner, guests gathered in the ground floor lounge for cocktail hour. The lounge opens to a patio facing the water, and the venue also has a lighthouse style viewing tower that makes a great spot for a few quiet portraits.
The Staff and the Venue Coordinator
The staff at The Lakeview is really friendly, organized and easy to work with. Our special thanks go to the amazing venue coordinator. She kept the timeline on track, checked in with us before each part of the day, and handled small changes without any stress for the couple. When a coordinator is this prepared, the photo and video team can focus fully on the couple and their guests.

Our Candid Wedding Photography Approach
Moonlight Photography uses a candid and photojournalistic style. We guide the couple when needed, such as during family photos, but most of the day we simply watch and wait. Real reactions don't happen on cue. If you are looking for the best candid wedding photographer in Hamilton, ask to see full galleries, not just highlights. A full gallery shows whether a photographer can tell the whole story of the day. For Tammy and Paul, that meant photographing the nervous minutes before the ceremony, the tears during the vows and the chaos of the dance floor without stopping anything to set up a shot.
