Jesika and Jake’s engagement session at Battlefield Park in Hamilton was nothing short of magical. It was one of those perfect sunny days that made everything feel just right. The park itself is a gem, with its beautiful manor (now a museum) and a stunning line of trees leading up to the tower on the hill. It’s a place that naturally lends itself to candid, vintage-style photography — exactly what I love capturing.

As a wedding photographer in Hamilton, I’m always drawn to places that have both historical charm and natural beauty, and Battlefield Park is just that. Jesika and Jake’s energy matched the day perfectly. They were so easy-going, and their love for each other came through in every moment. I aimed to capture that with a filmic editing style that’s a bit different from your typical engagement session. I added a subtle vintage touch by including some grain, which gave their candid shots a real sense of nostalgia and depth.

We wandered through the park, and one of my favorite spots was the line of trees heading up to the tower. The way the sunlight filtered through the leaves felt timeless. I caught a few shots of them laughing and walking hand-in-hand, totally in the moment. It felt like stepping into a different era, which I think is exactly why the filmic style worked so well.

Working as both a Hamilton engagement and wedding photographer means I get to see couples like Jesika and Jake start their journey together, and it’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do. The session was a mix of fun, love, and that perfect touch of vintage — just like Jesika and Jake themselves.

In just a few days, I’ll have the honor of photographing Jesika and Jake’s wedding here in Ontario, and I couldn’t be more excited! After such an amazing engagement session at Battlefield Park, I can’t wait to meet them again and capture even more of their love story. Getting to be part of both their engagement and wedding is such a special experience, and I’m looking forward to creating even more beautiful, candid memories with them on their big day.
